The Alternate Method For the Tacho Clocks

Background Details

This is just an alternate version for the conversion of the Tacho/speedo clocks using the existing bulb holders. This is the method I use when I send out the conversion kits.

Tools Required

  • All tools as listed for the conversion
  • Thin nose pliers

Parts Required

  • The existing bulb holders

Step 1

  • Remove the bulbs from the holders - they just pull out.

Step 2

  • Take 2 LED's and 2 resistors.
  • Solder 1 resistor to the NEGATIVE led of the LED.
  • Solder the positive legs of the LED's together, and solder the resistors together. Do this TWICE.
  • Take 1 LED and 1 resistor
  • Solder a resistor to the NEGATIVE led of the LED. Do this TWICE.

You will end up with 4 sets of LED's The paired LED's are for the middle two slots, with the singles for the remaining slots.

Step 3

  • Remove the small brass/copper contacts out of the 3 large holders
  • Fill them with solder (in the "U" part of the contacts.
  • Solder the 2 pairs of LED's and one of the singles.

Step 4

  • With the remaining LED and holder (small one)
  • Again, fill the contacts with solder
  • Construct the LED/resistor as in the picture, remembering to put some sort of insulation around the resistor as when the contacts are soldered on, they will touch the resistor

Step 5

  • Take the LED's , and place them back into the holders You should end up with something like this.

The main instructions tell you which track is the negative ad positive, just put the resistors to the negative track and it will work fine. Or you can click here..

when you fit them to the clocks, try and put them in the correct way the first time around, otherwise you'll have to do it again until they all work!

Once you have completed them some slight adjustment is required so that they point in the correct direction within the cluster unit. Click here to see how.

If you have any problems, please to not hesitate to Email Me! and I will try to resolve the problem!
